101 Projects in 101 Days is the story of challenging ourselves to deliver on the promises and potential of the inspiration that strikes us.
“…you have to accept that you may put out a hundred things for every bottle that winds up coming back.“
On this site we are challenging ourselves – and you, if you hear the call and feel compelled to answer it! – to commit and document our journey of shipping our work out into the world by pledging to ship 101 projects in 101 days.
Hi! We are Jon and Jen, aka Your Average J’s (YAJ). If you, like us:
- Always have a flood of ideas, whether for creative pleasure and/or biz aspirations; and
- Dream about putting these ideas out into the world; but
- Get so overwhelmed with where to start or even which idea to start with; that
- You almost always end up not making a whole lotta progress, other than a growing list of “one day” projects; then…
…you’ve found your tribe!
101 Projects, 101 Days was born out of our frustration with ourselves that while we had oodles of inspiration and desire to turn our ideas into reality, we were lacking the ingredient that separates the dreamers from the doers:
An idea, without action, is as useful as a cake mix left in the cupboard. The potential will never go away (well, at least not until it passes its used by date), but until then, it’s just a pile of ingredients until you actually pull it out and bake. We want to bake.
We are willing to deal with the reality that some cakes – perhaps even most – will not turn out the way we hoped. BUT… …we are going to bake.
Starting with project number 1: this very site – 101projects101days.com! It too, not too long ago, in fact, only yesterday really, was a crazy idea, teetering on the edge of never coming out of the cupboard. Today it is the first of 101 projects.
But here it is. And here you are. And here we go.
Join us! Document your own challenge on your blog and post your link in the comments. You don’t need to do the whole 101 projects in 101 days thing, heck, even a 7 day challenge will get you miles ahead of where you might be now. We’d love to feature and highlight others’ work on here who are taking the plunge from “one day” to “today!”
With thanks and sincerest best wishes.
Jon and Jen.
